About Us

The Studio

TDC FacultyTaneytown Dance Center is located at 2 Frederick Street in downtown Taneytown, Maryland. Taneytown Dance Center first opened its doors in 2004 under the direction of Kimberly McCord-Golliday (known by her students and their parents as "Miss Kim"). The Dance Center offers a wide range of instruction for all ages including Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Hip-Hop, Pilates, Boot Camp for Boys, and special daytime classes for homeschoolers.

At the Taneytown Dance Center, we pride ourselves on the integrity of our studio and the quality of the Taneytown Dance Center experience.  We strive not only to instruct dance and technique but to encourage positive self-esteem, honor, poise, teamwork, and a strong respect for others.  Each and every child  is important to us, and we make every effort to play an important role in each student's life.  Your child becomes a part of a family, not just another student at the ballet barre.

Directrice,

Kimberly McCord-Golliday

I am a dance graduate of Baltimore School for the Arts, where I studied under the direction of George Balanchine trained and former dancer of the Dutch National Ballet, Mr. Sylvester Campbell, and Ms. Stephanie Powell, Artistic Director of the Stephanie Powell Dance Ensemble. I have danced since the age of 2 and from the ages of 10-13 studied under the direction of Ms. Paula Callou former premiere danseuse with the Paris Opera Ballet. I have studied with instructors from The American Ballet Theatre and Maryland Ballet.  I have had classes with Nat Horne, Ron Cunningham, Sean Curran, Gregg Russell, Rennie Harris, Pat-y-o-, Bob Rizzo, Debbie Dee, Ballet Master David Howard  and former New York City Ballet dancers Suzanne Farrell and Susan Jaffe, and I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Jenifer Ringer principal dancer of the New York City Ballet.   I have had class with Elisa Clarke of Mark Morris Dance company and attended Bill Evans' Workshops.  I have attended many classes and workshops with Finis Jhung. I have performed with many companies and studios in the Baltimore/Washington area at venues including The Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall (including the Gala opening), The City and Ethnic Fairs, and various holiday specials for WJZ-TV.      I have been teaching in all aspects of dance for twenty-five  years, including directing a program in Baltimore City for underprivileged and inner city youth.  I spent one year on the Baltimore Bandits Hockey Team dance squad.  The Baltimore Bandits were the drafting team for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks until they were sold later that year.   I had a student accepted into Carver School for the Arts and Technology, who was also accepted into the Alvin Ailey Summer Intensive in New York City.   It has been a pleasure to start and run my own ore-professional dance company, Xpressions in Motion Dance Company.  And with the help of my staff and students and all their hard work and dedication, the dance company has expanded in recent years to include Junior Xpressions, Juior Dance Company, and our latest addition, Young Xpressions for our youngest performing group. On a personal note I am married and live on the outside of town with my husband Tim, two sons ages 21 and 12 and my  Australian Shepherd dogs Cricket, Keebler, Audrey and Quinn. (See the Calquin Homestead for more on Australian Shepherds)

Jr. Xpressions Jr. Co. Director & Asst Instructor,

Elissa Weil

I have been dancing since I was 4 years old and began at Parker Dance, a studio in my hometown of Parker, Colorado. I was a corp dancer until I became a soloist at 16. I also danced with The David Taylor Dance Company in Denver, Colorado under David Taylor. During these years I studied ballet, Pointe, jazz, hip-hop, modern, Broadway, and Pilates. After moving to Rockville, Maryland I started dancing with The Metropolitan Ballet Academy and Theatre, where I studied mainly ballet, Pointe, and hip-hop. I have attended workshops with the Radio City Rockettes and The New York City Dance Alliance. During my senior year of high school I competed as a part of my school's dance team and took first place in two out of three competitions, becoming one of the top dance teams in Montgomery County. Now, while attending McDaniel College in Westminster, MD I am a member of our dance team and the cheerleading squad. I am excited to become a part of the Taneytown Dance Center, where I can not only continue my dance education, but also share my passion for dance with my new students. I am proud to be the Director of the Junrio Xpressions, Junior Dance Company. Personally, I have a degree in Secondary Education from McDaniel College where I studied English and worked as a Resident Assistant, acting as liaison between college student residents in my dorm and the school administration. I currently teach at Glenelg High School in Carroll County.

Young Xpressions Director & Asst. Instructor,

Theresa Baumgardner-Prochaska

I started dancing when I was 3, learning tap, jazz, and hip hop under the instruction of Miss Shirley Williams, former Broadway dancer and dancer with the Radio City Rockettes.   I trained privately with Miss Williams until the age of 19, when my instructor decided it was time for her to retire! I instructed and choreographed during high school for show choir, cheerleading and anything involving dance. After High School, I was accepted into the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.  More recently I taught jazz tap to children ages 5-11 for the Taneytown Recreation Council, choreographed for for the FSK Jr. Eagles Cheerleading competition squad, and coached FSK High School Cheerleaders.  I am proud to be Director of the newly formed, Young Xpressions! Aside from teaching dance with the Taneytown Dance Center, I am currently a Property Manager with Tidewater Property Management in Owings Mills.  I am married with two children, a twelve year old son and five year old daughter who loves to dance at Taneytown Dance Center!
